So, it's Netherlands-Gold, Cuba-Silver, and CANADA-Bronze.
Obviously, we were too busy with the World Series to care?

Re: baseball... wtf?
you mean the 'World Series' where only the US plays?
always wondered how that qualifies as World Series... maybe in the De Gaulle 'centre of the universe' kind of way...
anyway, that' a cheap excuse. until such time as you pit yourself against other teams in the world, you can't claim to be any good.

Don't take yourself or me too seriously. It's ok though, Dutch pride and all that. Congrats on your win.

Re: baseball... wtf?
Ah! If Cuba were involved then doesn't that mean the US can't play? Thought the Land of the Free didn't allow people to fraternise with Cubans or something?

We came in 4th, according to the article. Although, I wonder how many nations were even in this thing. I mean, the World Series only has one, maybe the World Championship only has four?

The biggie is the world baseball classic played every four years
The Dutch did very well last time
I remember I posted here about the origins of Dutch baseball going back as a kind
Of protest of the nazi occupation during the last one
Cuba & then Japan have won the 2 last world baseball classics
Japan beat Korea in a sold out dodger stadium last time
The whole 60,000 crowd looked to be 100% asia strange to see
If u search world baseball classic final here you can find my thread which links to history
Of Dutch baseball herec- I am sure

Don't forget the Toronto Blue Jays are Canadian and compete in Major League Baseball therefore it is a "World Series".
I guess we're not in Kansas anymore.

After a few years of fending off coaches & weighing the pro's & cons we've taken the plunge let our 11 year old be recruited by a AAA level Tournament or Travel Team
The following article lays it out exactly as it is. Very well written actually
Is this a good thing or not for our 11 year old who has excelled at rec & all star ball & loves the game
w/a passion.?This is a different animal altogether. The skankster has wanted us to say yes for over a year now
Its a huge familial commitment in time & money

Have you informed him yet that baseball is really rounders, a children's game?

despite enjoying playing golf, I struggle to watch it on TV.

Baseball - terrible to watch on TV, but fine to watch in person (they serve beer, duh!)
Golf - terrible to watch on TV and in person - even if they do serve beer......

Re: baseball... wtf?
I went to a baseball match once in the hope that I could start to appreciate the game. Despite it being at Yankee Stadium watching the Yankees against the Bluejays, I found it all a bit slow and manufactured.
If the announcer says stretch, you stretch.
If people come out to brush the field down, you dance to the Village people.

Re: baseball... wtf?
Real baseball, you know the kind that regular everyday people play, is great to watch live, bit like watching local cricket live. So I'm talking about grassroots level...with none of the razzmatazz stuff that goes with it...great if you know the people playing etc. Bit like basketball. Take out all that music and garbage and the game is great.

Baloo, its not a baseball match its a baseball game. In the US, match is used for wrestling, boxing and tennis.
