It sounds like a wild and woolly day back there. Take care and rug up I hear it will be getting cold as well.

it's 24 C now, tomorrow's forecast 15. Victoria weather, what can you say...Pinklepurr wrote:It sounds like a wild and woolly day back there. Take care and rug up I hear it will be getting cold as well.
we're lucky it seems: in Tazzie they have hurricane force, we only have gale force, but so far i heard of one person killed already.
seems they might actually close both the West Gate and the Bolte bridges, which means no one will be getting out of the city in a bit. the gridlock will be immense.

Yeah, it's wooly here as well -- the trees were all intact when I left home. I hope I will find them all intact when I get home this evening. Even from Level #3 at the office I can hear the wind howling on the window - the temperature has dropped from 24C at 8am to 16.3C at midday.

Canberra's starting to get pretty ordinary too.
Assorted weather warnings (Sheep Graziers, Small Boats, Severe Weather, Damaging Winds). Forecast is for possible snow, 6 degrees overnight and 16 tomorrow.
Expecting gale force winds tonight - it's already howling around the building and I'm walking home this afternoon. Ick. (Insert 'shivering frowny' here)

Closing both bridges? Can't remember a time when something like that happened last.

Re: some storm!
well, it hasn't happened yet, but they are down to two lanes and 40k on the West Gate and are actually telling people to stop work, get out of the CBD and get home. already 200,000 homes without power and it's said to be getting worse.Pinklepurr wrote:Take care guys, at least it should er, blow over, this evening.

Re: some storm!
Yes, I've heard it's been pretty awful! Any improvement, or is it in fact getting worse as they've said it may?

Re: some storm!
still quite robust outside. thank goodness we had some rain, which is keeping the dust down. supposed to get hail and freezing cold tonight and tomorrow. snow expected in the 'Alpine' (sorry, i still can't say or write it without a silent snigger) region.

Re: some storm!
Still pretty rough here in Adelaide as well - the two fuurins that I hang over the louvred loo window are furiously jingling away at the moment. My trees are still intact, thank goodness. The rain is very much welcome as I want as much greenery as I can get.
Re: some storm!
What season is it in Down Under? If it's spring elsewhere, is this fall for you?
Sounds pretty rough for fall.

Life is comprised of infinite possibilities; some known, others a mystery and destined to remain so. And what of the vast unknown, the realms beyond which knowledge has no established boundaries or parameters? Who is to say what exists or what is possible?

yeah, it's fall and apparently a storm this strong and long lasting was highly unusual. it's now very cold: 8 degrees.Zephyr wrote:What season is it in Down Under? If it's spring elsewhere, is this fall for you?

We don't have a season called "fall" in Australia.

Re: some storm!
We did yesterday Baloo....lots of trees falling all over the place.
It was wild and windy and very out of character for this time of year. My family's place lost a couple of big trees (well next door did really but they fell into our garden) but at least no one was hurt and no real damage done. Lots of damage elsewhere though. Glad to hear that you are safe and missed any damage too M.
(Hey, I always laugh at the use of alpine as well, and I come from there...)
