The beginning of the end for Plasma TV?

Post by Jedi » 5th Mar, '08, 16:34

I have always been a huge fan of Pioneer Plasma TVs.

That's a shame. I always enjoyed being an inch bigger than the others.

Good time to go shopping?. I expect once the news is out prices will drop significantly. Might be able to pick up a good deal. Are the burn-in problems still around? I haven't really even looked into them at all.

Panasonic plasmas are better IMO. anyway, ours is now 4 years old and now burn-in at all... only grubby toddler fingers on the glass.

Pioneer are well known for being the best of the best in the plasma range.
Indeed it might be a good time to go shopping and maybe the last chance to buy some of the best plasma panels ever made. Eg. 1080p Kuro. Although they are still currently retailing around $17k!!

They haven't done the extra inch for a while now. Which means that when I replace mine, I have no choice but to get a 50"

That's not a bad idea actually. Wait for the Kuro runouts and upgrade to a 50"....

My 435 has developed an electronic hum. Quite loud and only started a couple of days ago.

Or protesting that after a couple of years watching sport and movies, it's now only allowed to show Playhouse Disney
