No more Voice of Rugby

Post by Fat Bob » 20th Jan, '10, 06:20

Goodbye Bill, what a great commentator you were, always cheering on great plays of rugby and knowing on hell of a lot about all the people on the park.

Your voice has been missed, now you will be.

Bill McLaren, the BBC's 'voice of rugby', dies, aged 86

Just looking at some of his quotes:

On Jonah Lomu: "I'm no hod carrier but I would be laying bricks if he [Jonah L] was running at me."
"Remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life" ...Cecil Rhodes.

One of the lines i remember him saying was "The ball's coming out of the back of the scrummage like chocolate bars from a slot machine!"
